Yard Manager & Instructors

The Klub Equest Yard Manager, Jose Lewis, was born in Holland but moved to England with her family while still in junior school. Jose’s father operated a stable yard in Harwich and it is no surprise that Jose has been riding and looking after horses since the age of 6.

Jose attended Writtle Agricultural College, where she graduated in 1999 with a BSc in Equine Studies. Whilst studying, she was a regular member of the College’s successful show jumping team, competing all over the country.

After graduating Jose worked as an interpreter for an international media company and then in a marketing role with an automotive spares company, whilst continuing to be active on the show jumping circuit.

In January 2000 she was invited to work with ‘Jan van Kooten’, a major international equestrian company operating mainly in Holland and in the USA.  Jose worked in the USA preparing horses for sale on the American market which demands the highest standards of horse management, grooming and riding skills.

In 2003 Jose accepted the role as Yard Manager for Kids Klub and has since worked to expand the equestrian side of the business. Jose has gained her BHS Stage 1, Stage 2 and PTT exam, and Klub Equest is now a fully registered and certificated riding school with the capability to offer riding lessons at all skill levels.

Our other members of staff include Amy Jarvis also a Writtle College student who is the yard managers assistant, she deals with the daily care of all the horses. We have two further BHS instructors Holly Haward and Laura Reeve who have both had experience in teaching at other riding schools in the area and Ben Whipps who is our weekend yard supervisor; he is there to organize our busy weekend lessons.
